Biryani Stop
About This Spot
Stepping into Biryani Stop feels like coming upon a warm corner of South St. Paul where familiar hospitality meets the rich, intricate flavors of Pakistani cooking. The pace here gently balances the steady rhythm of a neighborhood spot with little bursts of lively conversations, often sparked by the aroma of slow-simmered spices and freshly toasted naan. It’s a place where the hum of friendly chatter and the clinking of glasses create a relaxed, welcoming backdrop to a meal that invites exploration.
The heart of the experience is found in the kitchen’s loving attention to tradition — where biryanis and curries arrive layered with deeply comforting, authentic spices, and every bite carries the warmth of a family recipe. Whether you’re savoring the tender textures of a goat korma or diving into a plate of butter chicken paired with soft naan, there’s a grounded sense of place that anchors every flavor. The tea here flows alongside conversations, sometimes the distinct, soothing pink hue of Kashmiri chai, setting a quiet pause or a shared moment between bites.
Vegetarian options and street-food classics like pani puri add another dimension, inviting a curious palate to journey through diverse tastes and textures without urgency — as if learning a new language, but through food. Desserts quietly round out the meal with familiar sweetness and understated richness, offering a calm note of reflection after the savory complexity.
The staff's warmth and attentiveness hold it all together, crafting an atmosphere where you’re less a customer and more a welcomed guest. Even on busy days, there’s a genuine openness that encourages lingering, sharing stories, and savoring the nuances of dishes made with pride. It’s this slice of Pakistani culinary life, set softly against a Midwestern backdrop, that makes Biryani Stop not just a place to eat but a place to pause and connect.

We tried their buffet on Saturday. The food was really good. If you really want to try Pakistani food, this is the place to go. The only negative for me was that the food was more on oily side. There was too much oil in almost every dish. I would suggest the owner to please decrease the oil quantity in your dishes. Rest, taste is amazing.

OMG, this place is so so good! Biryani Stop may be my new favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. This was my first time eating at a Pakistani restaurant, and I wish I had tried this place earlier. I went on a Saturday for their lunch buffet, and they had so many delicious options. Lots of great various meat and vegetarian dishes. There were so many great dishes. I will be back to try them all soon.

I went to biryani stop today and ordered nihari and chicken biryani, my server was yousuf, he brought us the food with a sweet smile on his face. He was very courteous throughout. The food tasted good just a little spicy which my wife had ordered . All in all we had an amazing experience and it's affordable too. The only thing I'd suggest for the managment is that for the restaurant we have to go through a shop, if they could put a sign board on the top of entry it would be easier for people.

Fantastic food. Authentic Pakistani cuisine. Update: service needs a little improvement. Had to wait long time for bread. Bring a small amount and then forget. Need frequent reminders.

Some dishes are outstanding: Nihari, haleem, biryani, and the desserts. The desserts are top notch. No flavor is spared and it's super authentic, Punjabi, Baluchi dishes. Super chill and friendly staff and they have Coke studio on TV. Save yourself a plane ticket and disappear here for a few hours or a cultural, culinary immersion. There is ample parking and space so take friends. Go! Enjoy!

Tried their beef biriyani and nihari. Both items were delicious. Food was fresh and yummy. Nihari came with a naan. Highly recommended.

The food was exceptional, particularly the Goat Paya and Nihari. While the location is near truck parking, it’s easy to access. Prices are reasonable, with the buffet priced at $25 per person, and it's fantastic. If you're traveling from MSP to Chicago, this spot is definitely worth considering for takeout or even dining in.

I tried the food here "Biryani Stop", and I must say it's the best I've eaten in the area. The flavors reminded me of the authentic taste from the region where this cuisine is most popular. With a lot of options available under a single roof, if you enjoy spicy food like "Nihaari", this is definitely the best place for you!
